- University of New South Wales
Giulia Fiantanese is a PhD scholar within Project Halo. Her research is focusing on the survival and growth thresholds of different mangrove species, particularly Avicennia, Rhizophora, and Bruguiera, in response to varying environmental conditions, in order to assess how each species might develop in a given site and what environmental benefits it can provide. This research aims to identify not only which species can survive, but also which, within a particular and compatible ecosystem, are best suited for coastal defense, carbon storage, and soil accretion. Giulia is excited about contributing positively to this fragile ecosystem and developing innovative nature-based solutions that deliver multiple benefits.
