- University of the South Pacific
Jasma Devi is a PhD scholar within Project Halo whose research focuses on how sustainable mangrove restoration practices in Fiji can maximise social, economic, and environmental benefits while enhancing community well-being. Her research aims to develop a comprehensive ecosystem valuation framework incorporating societal, environmental, and economic factors, and to measure these impacts before, during, and after large-scale mangrove restoration in Fiji. By assessing ecosystem services, community perceptions, and restoration outcomes, the project seeks to create a Pacific-focused best practices framework that supports local livelihoods and contributes to national and international sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
Jasma is excited about working closely with Fijian communities, exploring cultural connections, and contributing tangible solutions that empower local landholders while promoting the long-term health and sustainable utilisation of mangrove ecosystems.
