Will is a Professor of Nature-based Engineering within the Water Research Laboratory, School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at UNSW Sydney.
A multi-award-winning engineer, Will has pioneered tidal restoration research and on-ground projects since the 1990s, restoring thousands of hectares across many coastal sites and developing nature-based approaches to mangrove and saltmarsh restoration. Will is a Winston Churchill Fellow (2005), a Peter Cullen Fellow (2013), co-leader of the Tidal Restoration of Blue Carbon Ecosystems method in Australia and a co-leader of Project Halo. Will manages a large research team at UNSW Sydney focused on estuaries, coastal restoration and climate change adaptation.
